If you want a really vibrant red use L'oreal for Dark Hair Only from Sally's with a 20vol developer. Even though it says for Dark hair it's for all shades of brown and it grabs really well. If you get something from the grocery store I would suggest Feria.

Loreal or Herbal Essences and dont use two boxes if you want it darker get died pro. if you use two boxes it will ruin your hair!!

Any/all hair dye brands are good.... Nice %26amp; Easy, Garnier Nutrisse, Feria, etc. But you have to be careful to make sure you are dying your hair clean (no product in it like gel or spray) and dry. Dye grabs better when the hair is clean, so the hair is more porous and receptive to color.

Also.....if you have A LOT of hair - you may want to think of getting 2 boxes. Usually one box does the trick (going from roots to ends). But if you have a lot of hair, like I do (it's very long and thick), I have to get two boxes to make sure I get total coverage.

Use a big wide toothed comb to make sure all the strands get covered, once it is on.

I buy Hydrience.I also dye my hair from dark to red.It leaves your soft and it gives u a tube of conditioner to use.

go to a salon... ask for a junior stylist if it's the price that's keeping you from going. why you ask.... red is a difficult color, it may turn too orange or too dark and it fades really fast.

red is the largest color molecule and most home color doesn't have a strong enough developer to open the cuticle.

i color my hair red and i use goldwell and recommend a goldwell salon in your area.
